Should the Embargo on Ukrainian Grain be Extended?
| There is an EU ban in place until 15 September on bringing in wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine to Poland and other central and east European countries. Almost two thirds of the people surveyed (65%) expressed the opinion that this ban should be extended, with a significant part (39%) being definite about this.
|
| Opinions were divided on what Poland should do if the European Commission did not extend the ban, but with a majority thinking that Poland should maintain the embargo on these products regardless (46%).

| This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (400) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register. Respondents independently selected one of the following methods: Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS; Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS. In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 14 – 27 August 2023 inclusive on a sample of 1024 people (61.9% using the CAPI method, 24.8% CATI and 13.3% CAWI). CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
