Who do Polish People Like Most and Who Least?

As last year, the people we like most are the Americans. In close second place are the Italians, followed by our favourite neighbours: the Czechs and Slovaks. Most respondents also expressed liking for the English and Lithuanians, while almost half also liked Finns, Hungarians and the French. Georgians, Ukrainians and Germans were liked by 40% of those surveyed, although the latter two groups were also disliked by a fairly high percentage.
The next places on the list fall to peoples whom similar percentages of respondents like as dislike: the Chinese, the Jews, Indians and Turks. At the bottom of the table are the nations and ethnic groups most disliked by Poles: Palestinians, Roma, Belarussians and Russians. Worth noting is the unambiguous attitude of Poles to the Russians: barely one in nine of those surveyed is indifferent towards Russians, whereas in the case of other nations and ethnic groups one in four or five respondents expressed indifference.

More on this subject in the CBOS report.
This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (405) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register. Respondents independently selected one of the following methods: Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS; Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS. In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. TThe survey was carried out between 11 – 21 January 2024 inclusive on a sample of 1015 people (59.8% using the CAPI method, 27.0% CATI and 13.2% CAWI). CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
