Vaccinating the Over-70s
Registration of over-70s for vaccination against Covid-19 was launched halfway through January and the vaccine began being administered in the last week of that month.
Of the people in this survey who were 70 and over, a decided majority wanted to be vaccinated. The survey was carried out in the first ten days of February and 8% of respondents in that age group said they had already had the vaccination. Most of them had tried to register for it at their own health centre, considerably fewer had called the 989 national helpline for this purpose, or contacted a different health centre or vaccination point.

This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (369) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register.
Respondents independently selected one of the following methods:
– Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI);
– Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS;
– Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS.
– Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI);
– Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS;
– Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS.
In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 1 and 11 February 2021 inclusive on a sample of 1179 people (44.3% using the CAPI method, 40.1% CATI and 15.6% CAWI).
CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
