To investigate social moods the CBOS uses indicators such as: assessment of current political and economic situation, forecasts for these aspects as well as opinions on economic situation of respondents’ workplaces and quality of living in their households. In order to illustrate the dynamism of changes quarterly balances are presented against a background of the previous months.

In the last quarter, similarly to the end of 2013, assessment of private sphere was much better than the public one. Still the worst is evaluation of political situation in the country, however, the level of criticism is significantly lower than at the end of the last year. Rather stable, however mostly critical, are opinions on economic situation. Positive opinions overweight negative ones in regards of interviewees’ workplace situation and material conditions of respondents’ households. However assessment of oneself material conditions remained stable throughout the last six months while the positive evaluation of workplace situation worsened in March.

Forecasts for Poland’s political situation in the coming year, although still rather pessimistic, are slightly better than in the last quarter. Forecasts for economic situation, regardless some improvement in January, in recent months have returned to the level noted at the end of 2013. In March a slight worsening of workplace situation forecasts has been noted.
