People Are Feeling Less Threatened by the War in Ukraine
Almost three quarters (73%) of those surveyed are worried that the war in Ukraine is a threat to the security of Poland. Even so, the level of anxiety is gradually lessening: the group of those who think that this war is definitely a threat has decreased by 13 percentage points over the last month (from 42% to 29%). This is part of a general change. At the beginning of March, soon after the war broke out, 85% of respondents felt it was a threat to the security of Poland, a month later this was down to 79%, and now there has been a further drop of 6 points.

This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (385) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register. Respondents independently selected one of the following methods: Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS; Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS. In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 2 and 12 May 2022 inclusive on a sample of 1087 people (58.9% using the CAPI method, 28.7% CATI and 12.4% CAWI). CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
