Positive Assessments of Polish‑Ukrainian Relations More than Double
The percentage of Polish people who see Polish-Ukrainian relations as good has more than doubled since 2018 (64% as against 29% five years ago), which is undoubtedly an effect of the closer relations between the two nations since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is worth noting that an earlier increase in such a positive view occurred after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. A mere 4% of Poles think Polish-Ukrainian relations are bad.

More than the average of positive assessments could be found among respondents aged 45-54, residents of larger towns and cities, better-educated people and those with higher per capita income.

This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (398) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register. Respondents independently selected one of the following methods: Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI); Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS; Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS. The survey was carried out between 5–18 June 2023 inclusive on a sample of 1054 people (59.3% using the CAPI method, 25.8% CATI and 14.9% CAWI). CBOS has been conducting statutory research using the above procedure since May 2020, stating in each case the percentage of personal, telephone and internet interviews.
