How Effective Are Government Measures against the Pandemic?
Over the last weeks, opinions about the effectiveness of government measures against the pandemic have become more negative, although the view still dominates that the current government is doing well in this respect. Their efforts are appreciated by 65% of respondents overall, five percentage points lower than on the cusp of May and June. The percentage of people who rate the government poorly in its struggle with the pandemic has risen from 25% to 29%.
Perceptions of the government’s pandemic policies are split along party lines. Virtually all Law and Justice voters (91%) praise what Mateusz Morawiecki’s cabinet has done, as do a majority of Polish People’s Party – Polish Coalition supporters (56%) and those of Confederation Liberty and Independence (55%). Criticism, on the other hand, prevails among voters for Civic Coalition and The Left (59% and 55% negative assessments, respectively).
More on this subject in the CBOS report.
This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (360) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register.
Respondents independently selected one of the following methods:
– Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI);
– Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS;
– Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS.

In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 15 and 25 June 2020 inclusive on a sample of 1378 people (65.3% using the CAPI method, 20.8% CATI and 13.9% CAWI).
