Social Moods Quarterly Review

To investigate social moods the CBOS uses indicators such as: assessment of current political and economic situation, forecasts for these aspects as well as opinions on economic situation of respondents’ workplaces and quality of living in their households. In order to illustrate the dynamism of changes quarterly balances are presented against a background of the previous months.
In February and March a significant rise in criticism, in regards to opinions on Poland’s situation, was noted. In contrast to these results the last three months brought some improvement of opinion on these issues. However, current assessment of country’s political and economic situation is still worse than in January. In the second quarter of the year opinions on workplace situation and respondents’ quality of living were inconsistent. As a result June opinions on work related issues has been the worst since the beginning of the year and those on material conditions of households are similar to January and February results.
In the second quarter, especially the last month, forecasts for political and economic situation in a coming year slightly improved. Moreover, forecasts for situation in workplaces remain stable. In regards to respondents’ material conditions, the trend of rising pessimism observed since the beginning of the year has slowed down.
The data comes from the surveys “Current Issues and Problems” conducted in 2013.
