What Do Polish Children Do after School?

Children most often attend paid, extra-curricular activities.
In school year 2014/2015, the first time in the history of our surveys, over a half of parents (52%, an increase by 6 points since last year) are planning to send their children for paid, after-school activities. For several years the most common extra-curricular activities have been foreign language courses (this academic year 35% of parents have decided to pay for it). There has also been noted an increase in popularity of paid sport activities (30% of parents have decided for it).
Similar to previous years the vast majority of parents who are planning to pay for their children after-school activities decided to send for such activities all their school-age children (80% of them which account for 42% of all schoolchildren’s parents).
More on that issue can be found in the CBOS report in Polish: “Parents’ Spending on Education of Children in School Year 2014/2015“.
The data comes from the surveys “Current Problems and Events” conducted in years 1998–2014.
