Paid Work under the Pandemic in Poland

About one in ten of the people surveyed (9%) say that someone from their household has lost their job or stopped earning as a result of the pandemic and the restrictions connected with it. This number has not, however, increased since May-June.

At least one source of income from employment has been lost by 12% of households; in the case of one in a hundred (1%) the loss of earning potential has affected more than one household member.

More on this subject in the CBOS report.
This ‘Current Events and Problems’ survey (363) was conducted using a mixed-mode procedure on a representative sample of named adult residents of Poland, randomly selected from the National Identity Number (PESEL) register.
Respondents independently selected one of the following methods:
– Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI);
– Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI), respondents receiving researchers’ telephone numbers in an introductory letter from CBOS;
– Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI), where respondents filled in the online questionnaire independently, gaining access by means of a login and password provided in an introductory letter from CBOS.
In all three cases the questionnaire had the same structure and comprised the same questions. The survey was carried out between 7 and 17 September 2020 inclusive on a sample of 1149 people (68% using the CAPI method, 20.1% CATI and 11.9% CAWI).
