Annual Social Mood Review
To investigate social moods the CBOS uses indicators such as: assessment of current political and economic situation, forecasts for these aspects as well as opinions on economic situation of respondents’ workplaces and quality of living in their households.
In the passing year, similar to the previous years, the private sphere was much better assessed than the public one. Opinions on workplace situation and respondents’ quality of living, regardless of some short-term fluctuations, remained rather stable – the whole year positive attitudes outweighed negative. In 2013 the Poles were rather critical in their assessment of country’s economic situation, clearly the worst were opinions about political situation – at the end of the year criticism was much higher than in January.
Forecasts for the private sphere were also somewhat better than for the public sphere, however, attitudes cannot be called optimistic. Average values were placing around zero throughout the year. In regards of the public sphere forecasts for political situation were rather stable all year round and those for economic situation have slightly improved in the second half of the year.
The data comes from the surveys “Current Issues and Problems” conducted in 2013.
